Anthony C. Laborte, RAgr and Princess Ann C. Lagcao, RAgr, faculty members of the South East Asian Institute of Technology (SEAIT) College of Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF), won the Best Paper Award and Best Research Presenter Award, respectively, during the 2025 Multidisciplinary International Research Conference hosted by Sultan Kudarat State University via Zoom on December 13.
Guided by the theme “Bridging Disciplines, Fostering Innovation: Advancing Global Solutions,” Laborte received the Best Paper Award for his research titled “Effects of Various Calcium Sources and Application Methods on the Growth, Yield, and Fruit Quality of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.).” The study stood out for its exceptional scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigor, and significant contribution to scientific knowledge, earning high commendation from the panel of evaluators.
Meanwhile, Lagcao was conferred the Best Research Presenter Award for her presentation on “Effects of Micronutrients and Timing of Application on the Agronomic and Yield Characteristics of Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.).” She demonstrated exemplary presentation skills, clarity of thought, effective communication, and a remarkable ability to engage and inspire the audience.
The presentations were evaluated by parallel session reactors from Brunei, India, and Indonesia, underscoring the international standards and interdisciplinary relevance of the research outputs.
The achievements of Laborte and Lagcao not only bring pride to the institution but also highlight the vital role of agricultural research in addressing contemporary challenges and advancing sustainable development.
